Silence is golden, isn’t it?

Silence is golden, isn’t it?

A friend of ours has two grandchildren, both in their mid teens. One’s a girl and when you listen to her you know that she thinks, “why should I use, like, only 6 words, like, when I can, like, use 28.”  The other is a boy and he obviously thinks, “why should I use words when I can grunt?”

Clearly they both need to learn a thing or two before they start going for interviews a little later on in life. She needs to be more succinct while he needs to be somewhat more verbal - to say the least!

However, both of them need to master the link between their thoughts and the verbal expression of those thoughts.  If they can also develop the art of using silence and pauses to colour their vocal intonation then they will truly stand out from the average interviewee.  For interviewees it's the little differences that make the big difference. #proteuscareermanagement
