Your managers are impacting your bottom line. But not in the way you might imagine. ☝️

Your managers are impacting your bottom line. But…

Hiring and promoting managers and letting them get on with it is a seriously dangerous mindset which can damage more than your bottom line. Here's why? 👇

∟ Poor management traps good employees in unhealthy and toxic work situations.
∟ Unskilled managers perpetuate some of the worst management behaviour I've witnessed.
∟ Self-focused, ego-driven management erodes employee health and wellness.
∟ Parental management promotes unfair and biased performance and progression cultures.
∟ Unaware management creates an un-diverse echo chamber shaped in their image.

If you have ever heard something like this from managers or leaders - It's a red flag 🚩

∟ The doors open, no one's stopping you.
∟ Other people are fine/succeeding (the classic, it's not us, it's you mantra).
∟ This [input unacceptable culture or behaviour] is how business is done.
∟ If you can’t handle this, you won't get on/progress/be promoted.
∟ You need to be more resilient/stronger/impactful/capable/organised.

None of this is normal, healthy or okay.
I can result in endless guilt tripping, passive aggression and fear-based leadership.
Sadly, though, it happens every day, in many workplaces.

𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿.

I've worked with and partnered with 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 businesses.
𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 skilled managers 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲:

∟ I value you. If something isn’t working, let’s figure this out together.
∟ Let’s understand your strengths and plan around these as much as possible.
∟ Let’s create a safe, open environment where you can speak your mind.
∟ Opportunities/progression are based on fair and equitable measures.
∟ Stoicism and burnout are not badges of honour; as your manager, I will act quickly.
∟ Feeling included, valued and safe is on us [managers/leaders/company].

There is no perfect workplace. All jobs have good and bad days.

However, a massive difference exists between workplaces 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺.

Investing in quality management and leadership training will make a difference to your business, people and bottom line.

It doesn't have to cost a fortune; it's more affordable than you think. Focused, well-designed training and coaching that gets right to the nub of things with no extra upsell is out there.
And the bottom line is that it will save you tenfold in the long run.

𝗜’𝗺 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲. 𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲. I share candid insights about workplace cultures because every employee deserves to thrive.
